About Us
In the face of adversity, hope finds a way to flourish. On August 15, 2021, Afghanistan’s political shift and the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education from grades 7-12 left over a million Afghan girls without schooling, erasing their right to learn and dimming the country’s potential. This crisis, with an estimated economic toll of $500 million annually, as reported by UNICEF and Save the Children, impacts not only individual lives but also Afghanistan’s future.
In response, a group of dedicated Afghan academics launched the “Afghan Girls Access to Education (AGATE)” initiative, establishing Flying Wings—a digital platform to restore education for Afghan girls. After a successful pilot on August 15, 2022, with 400 students, Flying Wings refined its model, and now 650 students are enrolled. Already, 75 students have graduated, with some pursuing higher education abroad, and 57 have entered private online universities for undergraduate studies.
Today, Flying Wings stands as a symbol of resilience, offering flexible, high-quality education that empowers Afghan girls to reclaim their right to learn and build brighter futures. We deliver education aligned with international standards while considering the tech- and AI-dominant, rapidly evolving job market. We have successfully piloted the integration of AI in teaching and learning. Through mentorship, personal development, and partnerships with organizations like The Learning Machine Ltd., (A UK Educational Company) Flying Wings supports these students in realizing their dreams and opportunities.
